{"id":410,"date":"2013-07-15T20:55:07","date_gmt":"2013-07-15T20:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/?p=410"},"modified":"2013-07-15T20:55:07","modified_gmt":"2013-07-15T20:55:07","slug":"conservation-and-private-reserve-ownership-in-costa-rica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/conservation-and-private-reserve-ownership-in-costa-rica\/","title":{"rendered":"Conservation and Private Reserve Ownership in Costa Rica"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-413\" style=\"float: right; margin: 10px;\" title=\"bridge\" src=\"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/bridge.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Forbes ranked Manuel Antonio National Park as one of \u201cthe world\u2019s most beautiful national parks\u201d. \u00a0It is also one of the most popular national parks within Costa Rica. \u00a0The 26 national parks and 13 additional \u201cprotected areas\u201d within Costa Rica encompass primary and secondary rainforests, cloud forests, tropical dry forests, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/wildlife-calms-the-soul-in-costa-rica\/\">marine environments<\/a> and wetlands. \u00a0They cover over 26% of Costa Rica\u2019s landmass according to the SINAC website, making the country a world leader in conserved land mass.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Working in conjunction with the many national parks, investors have established <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/properties\/quepos\/for_sale\/your_very_own_1400_acre_national_park.html\">private reserves<\/a> in order to assist in maintaining the biological corridors surrounding the many protected areas. \u00a0According at the Watershed Markets organization website- &#8220;A combination of political leadership and the continuous evolution of forestry sector laws since the 1960s (forest cover decreased from 72% in 1950 to 26% in 1983. \u00a0By 2002, it had recovered to 45%). During the mid-1990s Costa Rica, faced with the Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAPs) of the World Bank, was forced to withdraw the generous subsidies it had offered landowners for reforestation.
