{"id":522,"date":"2013-09-11T23:42:06","date_gmt":"2013-09-11T23:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/?p=522"},"modified":"2013-09-11T23:42:06","modified_gmt":"2013-09-11T23:42:06","slug":"educating-kids-in-costa-rica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/educating-kids-in-costa-rica\/","title":{"rendered":"Educating Kids in Costa Rica"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cildrenn.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-525\" style=\"float: right; margin: 10px;\" title=\"cildrenn\" src=\"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cildrenn-300x174.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>By\u00a0Rod Martin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Simply put, the reason most families do not send their children to private school is the cost.\u00a0 The best private elementary schools in Costa Rica can run up to $275\/month.\u00a0 However, many parents understand the benefits\u2014 bilingual studies, text books, exceptional teachers, and well-equipped classrooms\u2014 to name a few.\u00a0 Extra-curricular activities often include some form of art or dance, sports and community projects.\u00a0 These creative activities teach kids so much more than memorizing dates in history and are often highlighted in private schools.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Interestingly, higher education reflects the opposite paradigm\u2014 fewer public schools with better reputations and (often) results for graduates. \u00a0Currently, there are six public and 60 private universities in Costa Rica. \u00a0According to StateUniversity.com, \u201c\u2026higher education is free for nearly 50 percent of the enrolled students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The increase in private universities is a good sign for the future of the Costa Rica, but what about options for the parents of younger kids?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Private Education For Kids<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To give you an idea of how \u201cprivate school\u201d has become synonymous with success, there are now two private schools in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/properties\/dominical_real_estate_for_sale.html\">Uvita<\/a>, a small town on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertiesincostarica.com\/properties\/dominical_real_estate_for_sale.html\">Costa Ballena<\/a>, quickly becoming the center of the southern Pacific zone. \u00a0They are called Escuela Verde and the new Uvita Christian Academy.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Escuela Verde is a private elementary school was founded by a couple of parents who were unimpressed by the public school options in the area.
