Popular Wildlife Refuge Near the Most Visited National Park in Costa Rica

Located in the center of Manuel Antonio, this wildlife refuge is one of the most popular tour options in the area, providing 6 tour options, including the only night nature hike in the area. The refuge sees a consistent flow of tourism and has a net ROI of 10%, making it a sound and established investment to support not only the protection of flora and fauna, but also make a profit.
The property holds a main reception and booking office, with small gift shop and bathrooms for clients.
The well maintained trails and bridges lead first to the butterfly garden, which features multiple levels for observation, as well as a central platform which is ideal for hosting weddings. The garden is home to 20 species of butterflies, including the majestic blue morpho. The metamorphosis center allows guests to observe the process up close, as well as enjoy the collections of insects. The upper platform of the center is another vantage point for observation and offers a viewing area for wedding guests.
Located next to the butterfly garden is the crocodile, caiman and fresh water turtle enclosure. By way of elevated walkways guests can observe these species which are protected here. The refuge works closely with the MINAE to ensure the proper care and research of all species within the refuge.
There have been a number of projects, research studies and educational programs completed at the refuge with groups such as INBio, The Institude of Biodiversity, The Corcovado Foundation, the Mono Titi Alliance, as well as Universities and local primary schools.
The pristine rainforest of the refuge is home to toe and three toed sloths, titi squirrel monkeys, white faced capuchin monkeys, congo howler monkeys, as well as 150 species of birds, a variety of tree frogs and lizards.
