In a recent study done by Euromoney Costa Rica was again listed in the top 10 countries in Latin America for investing. The good news is that Costa Rica moved up 5 places to be only behind Chile and Panama. They credit the moving up 5 places to “improved political stability” and “limited economic risk” both of which are nothing new to Costa Rica.
In an interview done with CEO of Properties in Costa Rica Arturo Guzman by the Real Estate Magazine a number of interested topics were discussed in regards to Costa Rican real estate. Arturo shares his thoughts on some of the current questions of the Costa Rica real estate market.
As of 2010 Costa Rica was home for 210 different foreign companies creating 58,000 jobs. This number will grow in the coming years as IBM has decided to invest $300 million and add 1,000 jobs over the next 10 years.
There will be 500 Costa Rica homes given solar power panels in Costa Rica. This project is financed by the CNFL and will cost $1 million. The idea behind the project is to get in gear for Costa Rica’s goal of being the first carbon neutral country. If they reach this goal it could be an incredible accomplishment for this developing country. This is a big step for future homes in Costa Rica.
It just keeps getting better and better. The famous restaurant chain that we all love is coming to Costa Rica. The Hard Rock Cafe which has made it’s home in over 50 different countries around the world and will be opening two different locations in 2012, in Costa Rica. The Hard Rock Cafe has 163 restaurants around the globe that is a collection of the finest archives of rock and roll and excellent food.

Today is the day the Costa Rica census will begin. There are 35,000 Costa Rican’s making their rounds to over 1,300,000 different homes. This census is going to update the last census which was done in the year 2000. This will be interesting as Costa Rica has seen much growth since the year 2000. The census will provide the government and population with some of the living conditions along with economic conditions of different households all over the country.

If you notice early in the morning you see families getting ready for a day in the fields of picking coffee. Every cup that is drank here in Costa Rica on our way to work or during our 3pm “recreo” it came from one of these workers in the fields. It is that time of year to start to harvest the coffee here in parts of Costa Rica. According to a recent article in the ticotimes the harvest this year will be much lower than it was last year. This is due to the heavy rains that Costa Rica had this past rainy season.

For a country that has two coast you can imagine that boats are pretty common here in Costa Rica. Now it all depends on what type of boat you might be interested in but you can find everything from the local fisherman in the Puntarenas area, the fancy cruise ships arriving to Limon, or even some of the finest private yachts docked at the Los Suenos Marina at the Marriott in Herradura.
